Torricelli (1608 – 1647) proved that air pressure was subject to variations and in 1643 he devised the first barometer. Goethe, the famous German playwright, who enjoyed scientific experiments, later developed his own simple, but effective barometer using the principles established by Torricelli.
This barometer is based on Goethe’s design. The Weather Ball Barometer will indicate changes in air pressure quickly and accurately. The ball is filled with colored distilled water. Once filled the air trapped inside the ball is no longer subject to variations in atmospheric pressure. The liquid in the indicator tube, however, remains open to the atmosphere and is directly affected by atmospheric pressure. When atmospheric pressure rises the liquid in the indicator tube is pushed down and an improvement in the weather can be anticipated. When air pressure falls the greater pressure inside the weather ball causes the liquid in the indicator tube to rise indicating that a deterioration in weather can be expected. Comes with full instructions.
Height: 7½”
Ball Diameter: 4″
Large, clear dual-scale barometer in hPa (hecto Pascal) and mm (millimeter mercury) on a 4″ dial which is easy to read from a distance. Accuracy of ±3 to 4 hPa. Wall mounts.
Dimensions: 4″ Diameter x 1″ Width
Weight: 2.6 oz (74 g)
A compact design with the convenience of Bluetooth® streaming to a smartphone App for data storage and sharing. Once the dataset is complete, there is no need to attach the device to a computer to retrieve comprehensive reports. Simply download a full-color graphic report to the phone app wirelessly and e-mail to any computer for printing or further analysis in Excel.
You can also view a quick summary of data recordings anytime on the app. The free Android or iOS app communicates with up to 3 loggers simultaneously. Humidity, temperature, and barometric pressure cycle automatically on the large LCD screen while Hi/Low alarms are clearly indicated at a distance by the color-coded bright LED light on the housing. An optional audible alarm matches this warning from the phone. Quickly view Min/Max at any time by pushing a button on the device without interfering with data logging.
Comes with a CR2 Lithium battery that will power the unit for approximately 72 days. Freestanding or wall mount with either flip-out tab or built-in magnet. EN12830:2018, GMP, GLP compliant.
