Compact Dry TC is a medium for total viable bacterial count, which contains nutrient standard agar. The colonies grown on Compact Dry TC are red due to redox indicator tetrazolium salt. Regression line data from Compact Dry TC method plotted versus the conventional PCA method (standard plate count agar) shows a good correlation per 100 food samples for the population of me-sophilic aerobic micro-organisms. Compact Dry TC is AOAC, MicroVal and NordVal approved.

Compact Dry LM is a ready-to-use, chromogenic plate for enumeration and detection of Listeria monocytogenes. A characteristic coloration on the medium of the Compact Dry Plate distinguishes colonies of Listeria monocytogenes from other Listeria species. These are pathogenic microorganism of the Listeria genus. They pose a particular risk to immunocompromised people. Listeria monocytogenes can survive at low refrigeration temperatures.

Compact Dry PA is a ready to use plate for detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a rod-shaped, gram-negative, aerobic bacterium that can move in the medium via its unipolar flagella. During the incubation of the Compact Dry PA plate, the growing colonies of P. aeruginosa develop a red color caused by the redox indicator tetrazolium salt contained in the medium. It is distinguished from other pseudomonas by the formation of a greenish-yellow halo around the colony.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a bacterium that can cause cholera. Vibrio parahaemolyticus-associated gastroenteritis is the infection caused by this organism. Vibrio parahaemolyticus naturally inhabits coastal waters and is present in higher concentrations during the summer; it is a halophilic, or salt-requiring organism. Vibrio parahaemolyticus is found in marine environments, sea foods, and the feces of patients with acute enteritis. Compact Dry VP can not only easily detect Vibrio parahaemolyticus, but also differentiate Vibrio parahaemolyticus from other vibrios. The product contains a specific chromogenic substrate for Vibrio parahaemolyticus which develops blue/green or blue colonies, whereas other vibrios develop white colonies.

Compact Dry X-SA is a simple and safe test method to detect and quantify Staphylococcus aureus. These are spherical bacterium typically found arranged in clusters under the microscope. Its potential pathogenicity comes from its the ability to form enterotoxins (SET), which accumulate in the food when contaminated and cannot be completely inactivated even by heat treatment. Food contamination with S. aureus almost always comes from humans (hand, sneezing, coughing). S. aureus is therefore also considered an indicator of inadequate personal hygiene

Compact Dry SL detects salmonella using 20 – 24 hour pre-enrichment cultures. The plates are based on the combination of three different test principles: 1. Alkalization of the medium, by Salmonella´s lysine decarboxylase ability (the medium colour will change from blue-purple to yellow) 2. Greening of the colony, caused by decomposition of chromogenic substrate with a specific enzyme of Salmonella (black colonies are generated by hydrogen sulphide producing Salmonella) 3. The motility of Salmonella Additionally, the colonies isolated from Compact Dry SL can be used for confirmation of Salmonella. Coliforms generate color change from blue-purple to red-purple by fermented lactose and/or sucrose in the medium. Please follow this operating procedure precisely, especially how to inoculate sample and sterilized water, to exploit the specific advantages of Compact Dry SL.

Compact Dry CF is an easy tool for the detection of coliforms. Coliforms grow with blue/blue green colonies as the recipe contains the chromogenic enzyme substrate X-GAL. The growth of bacteria other than coliforms is mainly inhibited but in case of growth they form colorless colonies. Compact Dry CF is AOAC, MicroVal und NordVal approved.

Compact Dry ETC is a ready to use, selective and chromogene plate for the detection and enumeration of Enterococcus. Enterococci are Gram-positive organisms that, like the Gram-negative Enterobacteriaceae, belong to the intestinal bacteria. They can occur as contamination in various fermented food products. The presence of enterococci in food has long been considered the main indicator of poor hygiene conditions in the production process. On the other hand, enterococci are used as starter cultures for specific fermentation processes. It is known that enterococci play an important role in the development of the sensory properties of fermented food products. The presence of enterococci in drinking water is considered an indicator of fecal contamination. Enterococci can only get into the water via human or animal faeces. The Compact Dry ETC medium contains X-glucoside (X-Gluc) as a chromogenic indicator and specific antibiotics for selective cultivation.

Compact Dry EC is a medium for E.coli and coliforms. Coliform bacteria are considered indicator germs for faecal contamination. E. coli is the best-known representative of the coliform group and is considered an indicator for the presence of other pathogenic organisms. The medium contains two kinds of chromogenic enzyme substrates: Magenta-Gal and X-Gluc. E.coli forms blue colonies. The total coliform group count is the sum of both the red and blue colonies.
