Handling / measuring procedure
Simply pour your sample into the filling funnel of the device and start the measurement. The FSA grain moisture meter automatically takes a representative and statically distributed sample volume and determines the measuring values within a few seconds. After completion, the sample material can easily be removed from the material drawer and a new sample can be measured.

The humimeter FS3 Coffee Moisture Meter is a portable measuring instrument for the determination of the absolute water content of coffee, cocoa and many other luxury foods and cereals. The coffee moisture analyzer uses the so-called capacitive measuring principle: The entire sample is interspersed with an electrical measuring field. This means that not only the moisture on the outside of the sample is determined. The FS3 measures the average moisture of the entire sample. This is particularly important for freshly dried or roasted products, as the core usually has a higher moisture content than the outside. The moisture analyzer shows the absolute water content of roasted coffee beans, for example, directly on the display. It is also possible to save the measurement results and transfer them to a PC with the optional interface or print them out on a mobile printer
In order to increase measurement accuracy and reproducibility, the measurement is performed hectolitre compensated. This is achieved by precisely weighing in the sample quantity. For this purpose, a balance and a measuring cup are included in the scope of delivery. In this way, different bulk densities cannot influence the measurement results.
All FS3 rapid moisture analyzers are calibrated and tested using the EN-ISO 712 calibratable oven drying method.

The humimeter RHL allows the determination of the water content down to deep layers of the grain storage. The optional insertion probe can be supplied on request with a length of up to 2 meters.
The integrated data logger function can store up to 10,000 measured values. Measurements can be stored manually or you also have the possibility to use the auto data logger to automatically save the measured values in adjustable time intervals.
The optinal aw -value measuring chamber allows the determination of small grain samples.

If the water content of stored hay, e.g. in a haystack, is too high, fungal and bacterial growth may occur.
In these processes, energy is released in the form of heat, which leads to an increase of temperature within the haystack. In the worst case, the temperature inside the hay can rise so much that the hay ignites itself.
The operator of a haystack is obliged to regularly and strictly monitor the stored hay (fire police regulation).
In an emergency, the failure to comply with this monitoring obligation can be punished as negligent arson. Furthermore, the non-compliance with the monitoring obligation can lead to the loss of insurance cover.
With the hay stack probe, the water content of the hay can be measured already before bringing the hay in into the haystack, for example on the loader wagon or in the dryer.
In general, a water content of below 14% is considered to be harmless.

The water activity of products, especially of food, indicates the amount of unbound water in a material. This quality factor, also called aw value, depends on the water vapour pressure in the material, on the current temperature and on the water vapour pressure of the surroundings.
The humimeter RH2 water activity meter enables the quick and easy determination of the water activity. Furthermore, due to the large sample volume of the water activity measuring chamber, higher quantities can be measured within a short time. This enables a higher number of taken random samples.
The simple handling guarantees a cost-saving and faultless process of measuring the activity of water value of food. Just fill the material into the activity of water measuring chamber and close it.
After an appropriate conditioning time (time period until a constant climate in the chamber is reached = moisture equilibrium) the water activity can directly be read off the display of the humimeter RH2 water activity meter.
The time period until reaching the moisture equilibrium strongly depends on the material to be measured as well as on the temperature. Hygroscopic materials like cornflakes assimilate in a considerably shorter time than whole maize grains. In this context it is important that the samples have the same temperature than the measuring instrument resp. the measuring chamber – high temperature differences lead to a longer conditioning time.
This conditioning time depending on the material is a physical phenomenon and cannot be shortened artificially.
Generally, the conditioning time ranges from 5 minutes to about an hour.
The moisture equilibrium is achieved when the displayed measuring value is no longer changing for a period of several minutes (e.g. 10 minutes, changes less than 0.002 aw).
