The RH1 air thermo- hygrometer is an easy-to-use device for the rapid determination of the relative and absolute air humidity as the dew point temperature of the surrounding air.
In addition, by storing the device at wood or paper, the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and the water content in the material can be determined. At the same time the current temperature – optionally in °C or °F – is displayed by each measurement.
The measuring range of the RH1 thermo- hygrometer is between 0 and 100% relative humidity at a resolution of 0.1%. The calibrated measurement range, in which the measurement is within the defined tolerance limits, ranges from 10% to 90% of the relative humidity, where the accuracy of ±1.5% of relative humidity (at 25 ° C) is reached.
The temperature measurement range is from -10 to +60 ° C or 14 to 140 ° F, at a resolution of 0.1 ° C. The accuracy is ± 0.4 ° C.
It is also possible to save the current readings manually or to save them automatically at defined intervals. The device can record up to 10,000 readings, which can be provided with additional information such as the location of measurement, batch number or supplier data.
On the request, the device is also available with the USB data interface for the connection to a PC. Using this interface with the supplied USB cable and included PC software “LogMemorizer” you can transfer your stored values to the PC, where you can edit, analyze and store the data.
If you opt for the RH1 with interface, you can print stored measurements directly from the device on the available separate printer without needing to transfer the data to your PC

By selecting different long term stable sensors, the range of applications goes from the measurement of air humidity to the determination of relative material moisture via material moisture sensor to the determination of water activity value in diverse food.
The RH2 could also be connected with a infrared (IR) temperature sensor for temperature measurement from a distance without contact with the object or with a CO2 (carbon dioxide) sensor to measure the quality of air for example in classrooms, meeting rooms, laboratories or greenhouses.
The humimeter RH2 handheld thermo- hygrometer measures relative humidity, absolute humidity, dew point, equilibrium moisture content, aw-value, CO2 concentration (ppm) and temperature.
In diverse industrial sectors, the careful and accurate monitoring of the room climate is an important process, significantly contributing to maintaining product standards and product quality. This process can be effected easily with the help of the humimeter RH2 hand held thermo hygrometer and climate meter.
The humimeter RH2 data logger for temperature and air humidity determines the absolute and relative air humidity as well as the dew point automatically. In addition, further information like surrounding temperature and sensor temperature are displayed.
Handling and measuring procedure
Control the room climate by placing the humimeter RH2 resp. the measuring sensor in a room. After a short conditioning time read off the desired measuring values. Via the integrated data logger for temperature and air humidity, a long-term monitoring of the room climate is possible.
Operation in practice
The humimeter RH2 hand held thermo hygrometer and climate meter can be used for monitoring the room climate in laboratories as well as in production and storage facilities. Effect random checks of temperature and room climate or use the integrated data logger for temperature and air humidity for effecting representative long-time measurements. The optionally available external sensors open up a wide range of application possibilities in the field of determining air humidity and dew point.

The water activity of products, especially of food, indicates the amount of unbound water in a material. This quality factor, also called aw value, depends on the water vapour pressure in the material, on the current temperature and on the water vapour pressure of the surroundings.
The humimeter RH2 water activity meter enables the quick and easy determination of the water activity. Furthermore, due to the large sample volume of the water activity measuring chamber, higher quantities can be measured within a short time. This enables a higher number of taken random samples.
The simple handling guarantees a cost-saving and faultless process of measuring the activity of water value of food. Just fill the material into the activity of water measuring chamber and close it.
After an appropriate conditioning time (time period until a constant climate in the chamber is reached = moisture equilibrium) the water activity can directly be read off the display of the humimeter RH2 water activity meter.
The time period until reaching the moisture equilibrium strongly depends on the material to be measured as well as on the temperature. Hygroscopic materials like cornflakes assimilate in a considerably shorter time than whole maize grains. In this context it is important that the samples have the same temperature than the measuring instrument resp. the measuring chamber – high temperature differences lead to a longer conditioning time.
This conditioning time depending on the material is a physical phenomenon and cannot be shortened artificially.
Generally, the conditioning time ranges from 5 minutes to about an hour.
The moisture equilibrium is achieved when the displayed measuring value is no longer changing for a period of several minutes (e.g. 10 minutes, changes less than 0.002 aw).
Portable laboratory instrument for determination of water activity (aw value) of food with datalog function.
Suitable for measuring materials like butter, fruit mix, spices, granulate, mushrooms, xylit, flour, biscuits or sausage as well as all other food types requiring a check of the water activity value.
Furthermore, the humimeter RH2 is suited for measuring special material, e.g. plastic granulate or for climatic and environmental applications.
Not suited for juices (syrup), acidic food like vinegar or food and beverages containing alcohol.

Prevent your home against mould with the humimeter mould and air guard. The device sends an alarm to you if there is any danger of mould formation and tells you when it is necessary and possible to aerate the room.
Airing cellars and rooms is one of the most important activities when it comes to preventing mould. However, to get rid of unwanted moisture the right conditions have to prevail.
So the critical question is: When to air?
From a technical point of view this question is answered easily: Airing is sensible if the absolute humidity outdoors is lower than in the room. If this conditions does not hold airing the room will actually increase the humidity level in the room.
The problem humans encounter when deciding whether to air or not is actually determining the absolute humidity which is almost impossible without using a proper measuring device. So to guarantee correct airing of the room one has to rely on air guards like the humimeter mould and air guard!

Health threat by mould:
The formation of mould always goes along with an increased moisture concentration in your room. Already a relative humidity of 70% encourages the growth of mould in living spaces. An increased air humidity can be caused by conventional activities in the household like cooking, taking a shower or drying of laundry. Also plants and humans release water, which is emitted into the surrounded air. Furthermore, in new buildings residual moisture from building material can be released. In order to prevent an infestation or the increased growth of mould spores in living spaces, simple measures like reasonable ventilation and appropriate heating can be taken. If your living area is already infested with mould, this should be treated rapidly and effectively, and a new formation should be prevented. The appearance of mould can also cause allergic reactions of the body as well as inflammatory reactions and infectious diseases.
Function Preventing and avoiding mould:
Position the mould and ventilation monitor on the provided holder in your room. Switch on the instrument and select the calibration curve Risk of mould. After a adjusting time of a few minutes the instrument clearly shows the level of risk (no/little/increased/high/very high risk of mould).
Function ventilation monitor:
Switch on the instrument and select the calibration curve Absolute humidity. Measure the absolute air humidity in your room, and subsequently the absolute air humidity outdoors (hold the instrument out of the window or go outside). Please ensure an adequate adjusting period! If the absolute air humidity outdoor is lower than the air humidity inside the room, a riskless ventilation is possible. On the other hand, if the outdoor measuring value is higher than the indoor one, ventilation will increase the risk of mould.
Handling:
If for example in the basement the humimeter SW1 shows a high level of mould risk, it has to be acted quickly to prevent the appearance of mould. Measure the absolute air humidity indoors as well as the absolute air humidity outside via the function Ventilation monitor.
Example 1:
Absolute air humidity indoor: 14.5 g/m³, absolute air humidity outdoor: 8.5 g/m³You can open the windows for ventilation without any risk. With this measure the situation is improved significantly, reducing the risk of mould (preventing and avoiding mould).
Example 2:
Absolute air humidity indoor: 13.8 g/m³, absolute air humidity outdoor: 24.4 g/m³
If you open the windows for ventilation, this will worsen the situation, as the humidity inside the room will increase further. This will provoke the appearance of mould.
In this case we recommend using a moisture absorber or awaiting more favourable weather conditions.
