The Neogen® Petrifilm® Aerobic Count Plate is a time-saving, sample-ready plate designed to determine total aerobic bacteria populations. A built-in grid facilitates counting colonies, helping to provide fast, precise and consistent results. Each Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate contains a water-soluble gelling agent, nutrients and indicator — all the components needed for microbial growth with no agar preparation required. The Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plate provides total aerobic count in as little as 48 hours. A red indicator dye in the plate colors all colonies red for better contrast and easier colony counting. The red colonies are also easily distinguished from opaque food particles that can cause confusion when using other plating methods. In addition, Neogen® Petrifilm Aerobic Count Plates can be used to aerobically or anaerobically enumerate lactic acid bacteria in food and environmental samples.
In today’s environment of heightened focus on food safety and increasingly stringent quality requirements, labs are under pressure to provide tests that are fast, reliable and consistently accurate. Petrifilm Plates have demonstrated consistent performance that has been cited globally with more than 200 certificates, recognitions, validations, and peer-review publications. For almost 40 years, food safety professionals around the world have put their trust in Petrifilm Plates. That’s because Petrifilm Plates have streamlined, standardized and simplified the process of microbial quantitative indicator testing, improving productivity and helping ensure the highest levels of product quality.

The Neogen® Petrifilm® Lactic Acid Bacteria Count (LAB) Plate is a self-contained, sample-ready-culture-medium system which contains nutrients, selective agents, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent, and a tetrazolium indicator that facilitates colony enumeration. The Petrifilm LAB Plate contains oxygen scavenging compounds which create an anaerobic environment for the recovery of homofermentative and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria in the food and beverage industries. .
Every day, food processors, retailers and consumers are forced to throw out food spoiled with lactic acid bacteria. These normally useful bacteria can cause undesirable changes to ready-to-eat meats and seafood, dressings and sauces, vegetables and many other processed foods. This not only contributes to food waste and costly recalls, but can also damage your brand reputation. Now you can get true anaerobic results using standard aerobic incubation conditions. The self contained anaerobic environment in this plate enhances the recovery of lactic acid bacteria, providing fast, accurate results for effective control of product quality and shelf life.

The Neogen® Petrifilm High-Sensitivity Coliform Count plates may be especially well-suited for use in facilities producing dairy products, where regulations and strict internal quality standards demand a high-sensitivity test that can deliver results quickly and accurately.
This allows a 1-coliform-per-gram sensitivity if a 1:5 dilution of product is made. A 2-coliform-per-gram sensitivity is achieved if a 1:10 dilution is used. Whether testing milk, ice cream, cheese, or other food products, testing labs can benefit from the labor savings of Petrifilm Plates. These plates reduce overall testing costs and allow producers to easily conform to higher sensitivity standards.

The Neogen® Petrifilm® Staph Express (STX) System consists of a Petrifilm® Staph Express Count (STX) Plate and a Petrifilm® Staph Express (STX) Disk, which are packaged separately. The Petrifilm STX Plate is a sample ready culture medium system which contains a coldwater soluble gelling agent. The chromogenic, modified Baird Parker medium in the plate is selective and differential for Staphylococcus aureus but may also indicate Staphylococcus hyicus ( S. hyicus) or Staphylococcus intermedius ( S. intermedius). By identifying S. aureus in food and environmental samples, Petrifilm® Staph Express Count Plates give food processors an indication and risk assessment of food quality and sanitation effectiveness. Distinctive red-violet colonies appear in as little as 22 hours. The test requires only one incubation temperature and is equivalent to the BAM three plate Baird-Parker agar and tube coagulase method. The end result is better inventory management, better process control, a higher quality product and improved cost savings for your facility, all of which can lead to higher profitability.

The Neogen® Petrifilm® Rapid Yeast and Mold Count Plate method is faster and provides results in as little as 48 hours of incubation time, vs. the traditional agar method that requires a five day incubation period. Yeast and molds can grow in a wide range of conditions in raw materials, finished products and production environments, making them difficult to control. This plate features a new indicator technology that makes colonies easier to interpret.
Proven as reliable as the DRBC and DG 18 spread plate methods as well as the acidified PDA and YGC agar pour plate methods, Petrifilm Rapid Yeast and Mold Count Plates also enhance productivity by eliminating the inoculation of multiple spread plates, the addition of antibiotics or tartaric acid, and the agar preparation process altogether. Faster results provide more time to monitor processes and ensure tighter process controls to support product quality. With an added foam barrier around the inoculation area makes inoculating the plates easier, making it easy to interpret results with special technology keeps mold colonies from spreading and overlapping. Petrifilm eliminates the need for the labor intensive, multiple plate spread plate technique, while providing results in as little as 48 hours of incubation for most product catagories

The Neogen® Petrifilm® Environmental Listeria Plate is a sample-ready culture medium containing selective agents, nutrients, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent, and a chromogenic indicator that facilitates Listeria colony detection. The Petrifilm Environmental Listeria Plates were designed to analyze environmental samples. This plate is designed to analyze environmental samples and help increase the efficiency of monitoring plant sanitation. The Petrifilm® Environmental Listeria Plate provides results in just 26 to 30 hours. The presence of indicator Listeria such as Listeria innocua provides evidence that environmental conditions are suitable for the occurrence of Listeria monocytogenes. The Petrifilm® Environmental Listeria Plate detects the majority of environmental Listeria, consisting of Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria innocua, and Listeria welshimeri. L. ivanovii, L. grayi/murrayi and L. seeligeri grow but do not form typical colonies.
In today’s environment of heightened focus on food safety and increasingly stringent quality requirements, labs are under pressure to provide tests that are fast, reliable and consistently accurate.
