VISUAL MEASUREMENT

Model F

Visual Colorimeter for Lovibond® RYBN Scale
The Model F is a visual colorimeter designed to optimise the use of Lovibond® glass filters in order to express colour in terms of Lovibond® Red, Yellow, Blue and Neutral.

  • Two Adjacent Fields of View
It is arranged with two adjacent fields of view, seen through the viewing tube, so that the product in the sample field and a white reflective surface in the comparison field are observed side by side, suitably illuminated.
  • Easy Colour Comparison
The Lovibond® glasses are introduced into the comparison field by a simple system of sliding racks, allowing you to compare the colour of light which is either transmitted through, or reflected from, the sample. The racks are varied until a visual colour match is found for the light from the sample and its colour can then be expressed in Lovibond® units.
  • Excellent Colour Matching
A series of neutral glasses in racks is also supplied; these can be introduced into the sample field to ‘dull’ the colour of products which are too bright to obtain a good colour match using Lovibond® Red, Yellow or Blue glasses. The racks allow a visual colour match to be found from the light from the sample and its colour can then be expressed in Lovibond® units.
  • Assured Accuracy of Lovibond® RYBN Colour
Lovibond® Tintometer® is the only company that can guarantee accurate, validated Lovibond® RYBN Colour readings.
  • Easy Maintenance for Optimum Performance
The Lovibond® Tintometer is a precision optical instrument which should be kept clean to preserve its accuracy, even in the harsh operating conditions often encountered. This is why the Model F has been designed to allow easy cleaning and maintenance with the minimum of cost and effort. The instrument includes a white plastic liner in the sample chamber which can be removed for cleaning if a spillage takes place. It can be replaced at intervals to maintain the whiteness of the interior, an essential feature for accurate colour matching.
Separate filters in the racks also simplify cleaning and allow replacement of single glasses (as opposed to complete racks) if required.
  • Application Versatility
The Model F is an easy-to-use instrument with versatile application in colour measurement of products which transmit light as well as opaque solids, powders and pastes (an optional ‘solid’ sample accessory pack may be required for colour grading of light-reflecting products).
  • Compliance to International Standards
It is available in slightly varying formats to meet the requirements of different applications and the national and international standardising bodies which specify the instrument in their official methods for colour measurement.

AF 710-3

  • Visual Colorimeter for AOCS Official Method Cc 13b-45, the Wesson Method
The AF 710 is a visual colorimeter designed to optimise the use of Lovibond® glass filters in order to express colour in terms of the AOCS-Tintometer® Colour Scale. The AOCS-Tintometer® Colour Scale is a special red and yellow version of the Lovibond® RYBN scale using the AOCS-Tintometer® Red Scale (which is not the same as the Lovibond® standard red scale). The AF 710-3 accommodates the special flat-bottomed glass sample tubes specified in the AOCS Official Method Cc 13b-45, which are marked to indicate an oil column of ½”, 1″ and 5¼”.
  •
  • International Standards Approval
The Lovibond® AF 710-3 is a visual instrument approved by the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) for colour grading of oils and fats.
  •
  • Easy Determination of Colour
You can easily measure the colour of the sample by comparing light transmitted through a column of oil with that transmitted through a series of red and yellow glasses calibrated in accordance with the AOCS-Tintometer® Colour Scale. The glasses are varied until a colour match is found for the light passing through the oil. You can then express this colour in units of red and yellow.
  •
  • No Excessive Ambient Light
The tube holder, which prevents light from entering the sides of the tubes, houses two tubes, one containing the sample and the other allowing an equal
amount of light to reach the colour glasses.

The Comparator 2000+ is a flexible, modular system for Visual Color Grading. Using a suitable comparator instrument and glass disc, you can quickly visually match the sample directly against the calibrated, color stable glass standards.
  • Two-Field Vision for Accurate Results
Lovibond® comparator instruments include an integrated prism which causes the sample and comparison fields to overlap, allowing enhanced color discrimination and matching. The prism is ultrasonically sealed to prevent contamination of the optics. Each individually graded glass standard represents a discrete step on the measurement range (as opposed to a continuous graduation), aiding color discrimination and allowing great accuracy of results.
  • Ability to Guarantee Constant Lighting Conditions
An optional item for the Comparator 2000+ is the Daylight 2000 Lighting Unit. This is a standardized light source which guarantees you a constant lighting condition for accurate color grading. This is particularly useful when the sample is very pale in color. By using a Lovibond® lighting unit, you can confident of uniform lighting conditions for color matching, 24 hours a day and irrespective of ambient lighting.
  • Extended Shelf Life
The unique feature of Lovibond® test discs is that they incorporate colored glass standards that are color stable and not affected by UV light or extreme environmental conditions.
Please note, we cannot guarantee compatibility of discontinued Lovibond® Comparator 1000 disks with the Lovibond® 2000+ Comparator.
