All refractometers are made and tested to the highest standards using Bellingham + Stanley’s 100 years of experience in the field of refractometry; so whether you require a high-end digital touchscreen refractometer for measuring chemicals in a lab, or a handheld refractometer for measuring honey at a beehive you can feel confident you have the right instrument for the job.
For accurate measurement of concentration. High quality digital benchtop refractometer for use in your laboratory or factory.
Fast concentration measurement in the palm of your hand. Refractometers that can be used in almost any environment.
RFM340-M digital refractometer with 3-decimal / 0-100 Brix (1.58 RI) scales and Peltier control. Perfect for measurement and control in demanding food, beverage, chemical and industrial applications.
Tactile & robust keypad.
Flat prism surface for easy-cleaning.
Wide beam scan for non-homogenous samples.
Three decimal place Brix precision* (6 d.p. RI).
RFM300-M Series refractometers are capable of measuring non-homogenous samples such as fruit juice with pulp, opaque chemical compounds and emulsions that are normally difficult to read with optical refractometers or those digital refractometers that do not address the need to measure “difficult samples.”
The instrument’s new case is ergonomically designed so that any spills are dealt with by the sloping shape of the case or by the PEEK spill barrier that surrounds the shallow, easy-clean stainless steel prism dish.
With a durable membrane made from chemical and scratch resistant polyester, the RFM300-M offers a more tactile approach, allowing users to navigate menus at the touch of a button.
The large, clear buttons and 4” high resolution screen help facilitate operation in factory environments, and combined with our latest GUI, help the operator quickly manoeuvre through the menus. On-screen prompts support simple operation such as Method loading, calibration and routine maintenance guiding even the newest member of your staff.
RFID swipe technology comes as standard, providing clearance and a log of operator and configuration functions; especially useful when being used in FDA regulated environments operating in accordance with 21 CFR Part 11, or where good practice is adopted, e.g. as part of HACCP.
Measurements with the RFM300-M are made through a familiar measuring mode or by way of a simple Methods system with one-touch configuration of scale, temperature and data storage, with up to 8000 results being saved alongside pre-set limits that can be used as an audit tool Methods may be user-defined or selected from the on-board library. As an example, the ‘Coffee Solids’ Method allows for coffee type and daily offsets to be inputted, so that the %TS achieved using the refractometer in the factory match the results of the laboratory tests used to configure the freeze-drying process, producing instant coffee powder.

High precision Peltier temperature controlled benchtop refractometer, featuring a wide measuring range (1.30-1.70 RI) and 7” touchscreen user interface. Ideally suited for use in applications within the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, flavours and fragrance industries as well as in academic research.
The RFM900-T Series refractometers are high precision instruments for use within petrochemical, pharmaceutical, flavours and fragrance industries. The ergonomically designed cases deal with any spills by the sloping shape of the case or by the PEEK spill barrier that surrounds the shallow, easy-clean stainless steel prism dish. The prism dish is shaped to hold sufficient sample for measurement whilst regaining a large enough surface area for rapid temperature stabilisation to occur. A Kalrez® gasket has been chosen as the prism seal due to its almost impermeable nature to most chemicals. The sample cover forms a seal to prevent evaporation, particularly important when working with volatile solutions such as aromatic oils, and is interchangeable so that a presser type can be fitted for more viscous samples.
Inherent to the design is the high definition, capacitive touchscreen display that not only facilitates operation in factory environments, even when operated whilst wearing gloves, but also serves as the centrepiece for the new software. Combined, the touchscreen and GUI help the operator quickly manoeuvre through the user and configuration menus. On-screen graphical prompts support simple operation such as method loading, calibration and routine maintenance.

Measurements with the RFM900-T are made through a familiar measuring mode or by way of a simple Methods system with one-touch configuration of scale, temperature and data storage, with up to 4000 results being saved alongside pre-set limits that can be used as an audit tool. Methods may be user-defined or selected from the on-board library, such as the PHR-MEAN method that allows a number of individual readings from a single batch of pharmaceutical product to be measured with the resultant mean being displayed and recorded in accordance.

Robust 0-100 Brix refractometer. Designed with simplicity in mind, RFM700-M Series refractometers with Brix, RI scales as standard offer digital automatic technology at a low cost.
Robust 0-100 Brix refractometer. Designed with simplicity in mind, RFM700-M Series refractometers with Brix, RI scales as standard offer digital automatic technology at a low cost.
RFM700-M Series refractometers are robust, low cost, fully automatic instruments that are ideally suited to the food, sugar and beverage industries but can also be used in many other non-food applications where temperature control is not required, for example measuring sugar (°Brix) concentrations in the food processing industry.
The RFM712-M Series features robust construction, a sapphire prism mounted in an easy clean stainless steel dish and an outer casing that is sealed and shaped to withstand sample spillage and moisture ingress. This together with the external power supply makes the RFM700-M ideal for use in a harsh factory environment or busy laboratory.
Commonly, the RFM700-M series refractometers are supplied to operate in the °Brix scale with results temperature compensated to 20°C in accordance with ICUMSA. Additional user scales provide measurement in different formats such as various wine, Refractive Index (RI) & FSII as well as allowing custom scales to be loaded in accordance with product data.
The RFM700-M facilitates Span calibration at any value using a variety of media types, as temperature compensation may be adjusted to suit the product being used. Additionally, the instruments are fitted with AG temperature compensation, allowing the use of AG Fluids without the need to use conversion table.

General purpose optical refractometer for RI & dispersion measurement.
Our Abbe 5 refractometer offers affordable direct measurement of refractive index & Brix and is ideal for academia as well as within use in industry.
The Abbe Refractometer derives its name from the 19th Century physicist Ernst Abbe (1840-1905). Abbe designed an instrument for measuring the dispersion of light and this became the precursor for the so-called ‘Abbe Refractometer’.

The RFM990-AUS32 is an extremely high accuracy refractometer specifically designed to meet the stringent needs of the chemical manufacturing industry. Of particular interest is its compliance with the strictest of ISO procedures in relation to the manufacture of urea-based NOx reduction agents used as Diesel Exhaust Fluids, also known as DEF, AUS32 and AdBlue®.
ISO 22241 dictates the highest level of measurement must be achieved under the tightest limits of temperature control. In addition to the compliance with this norm, the RFM990-AUS32 is fitted with specific Urea scales and temperature compensation as well as an AUS32 Method that allows input of both the F factor and biuret content of the solution that is included in the analysis.
Being part of the RFM900 series of refractometers, users of the RFM990-AUS32 also benefit from common features such as RFID user identity/clearance, on-board data storage, limit checking and audit trails.
No matter how good the instrument performance, without good verification it is not possible to confirm the instrument meets the specification laid down in ISO 22241. Bellingham + Stanley offer a UKAS Certified Reference Material for this purpose at the equivalent RI value of Urea stated in the norm.
